The federal residential clean energy credit covers a meaningful percentage of a qualifying solar system as a credit against your federal taxes, and battery storage can qualify as well. A solar system is an electrical system first and a roof product second. The interconnection, the rapid-shutdown, the grounding, and the panel tie-in are all electrical work, and they live on your roof for twenty-five years or more. Cut corners on any of it, and the problems surface years later as production loss, nuisance faults, or a safety issue no one wants on a roof.
